Main deck - Minehunter Frankenthal Class 332
The mine countermeasures units of the German Navy have been based on a standard hull since the early 1990s. A large number of mine countermeasures boats were created on this basis. This includes the Frankenthal class, which was designed as a minehunter and is based on the hull.
This set includes the main deck including the associated superstructure parts such as anchor capstans, boxes and cable drums. If you already have a hull, this could be the right extension for your model.
The model
The deck is printed in 7 sections, with some parts separated into port and starboard. Any scale can be printed. The model was designed for a wide range of scales. At 1:50 the boat will have a length of approx. 1088 mm and a width of approx. 184 mm. At a scale of 1:50 200x200x200mm of printing space is required. At a scale of 1:40 235x235x235mm.
The model can be printed with conventional PLA. However, we recommend a more "elastic" material, such as PLA+. This has better flexibility and makes the boat less prone to breakage. Printing with ABS or PETG is of course also possible.
The deck is stable enough for printing with PLA. The deck bases are designed to be sturdy, so you don't have to worry about them breaking when working on the surface.
our advantages
- This model is not designed for a specific scale. However, note that the quality of detail varies with scale. The smaller your model, the more detail will be lost.
- Unlimited copies - Buy the product once and use it for your entire fleet.
- Decide for yourself which materials you use for printing.
- The limits of printing are determined by your 3D printer. The build volume of your printer determines the maximum possible scale.
- The fuselage parts are glued together and the frames offer the option of additionally connecting them with screws. The adhesive only serves as a seal. Another advantage is that the screws apply pressure evenly to the bonding surface during bonding, resulting in an almost perfect bond. Huge screw clamps are then no longer required.
- While glue loses its hold over time, screwing ensures that your hull retains its stability even as it ages. Glued hulls become brittle over time and this creates the risk that glued hulls can break if there is a knock at the glued joints. In the worst case, this can mean the loss of the entire model. If the hull is screwed together, this risk is reduced to a minimum and you can enjoy your model for longer.
Combine FDM and resin printing
Get even more out of the kit by printing large parts with your FDM printer and using small detailed parts with your resin printer. In general, all parts are designed so that you can print all parts with the FDM printer, but you can give your boat an even more detailed kick if you combine both variants. Of course, you can also print the model completely with your resin printer.
