Gepard
Kl-143A

The speedboats of the Gepard class are the last speedboats that were used in the Federal Germany Navy. The now decommissioned boat class was characterized by its powerful armament and its high speed. The boats were intended for coastal defense and were no longer up to the task due to their age and the changed requirements.

Project "Gepard Kl. 143A"

The model is a rather simple model. Because it has few superstructures. There are thus few sections of the fuselage to print.

The hull

The fuselage of the model is divided into 8 separately printable sections, which are divided at the bulkheads of the fuselage. At the same time, the frames represent the connecting bottle, by means of which the boat sections are screwed and glued together.

The upper deck is also printed in sections and later glued to the fuselage. The deckhouse will be removable to access possible driving electronics.

Building the model

The model can be assembled immediately after the first parts are printed. Printing requires a little patience because you usually can't wait to finally put the pieces together while you watch them being created. To build, you'll need 2 component adhesive for the large components and superglue for the small components.

The model in our pictures is built on a scale of 1:50 and is therefore 1.15m long. The fuselage is printed entirely from white PLA+, as are the other components. Later we replaced individual assemblies with resin components. This is not absolutely necessary and has advantages and disadvantages. While resin components are more detailed, they are more fragile - so it's not a must.
